Road Gullies

Road gullies are designed to remove rain water from roads and car parks quickly and efficiently. Even in the heaviest downpours the gullies should cope adequately so long as they have been routinely cleaned.

Gullies are designed to trap silt, sand and leaves from entering the main sewer. However, they are also prone to collecting all manner of other items including litter, pop bottles, tools, clothing, credit cards and keys. This can lead to the gulley becoming blocked and unable to cope with rainwater.

The cleaning of road gullies is an essential part of building maintenance and should be carried out annually. This can be arranged in isolation or as part of a wider cleaning program including drain
