Terminology

Personal data is any information that could identify a person (data subject).  Personal sensitive data relates to information concerning a data subject’s racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union activities, physical or mental health, sexual life, or details of criminal offences.

A data subject is any identified or identifiable person whose personal data is processed by the data controller responsible for the processing.

A data controller determines the purposes for data processing and the way personal data is processed.

Processing is any action or actions performed on personal data such as collection, organisation, storage, erasure or destruction.  This list is not exhaustive.

Data Collection

Waterloo Tankers obtain the personal data of clientele and potential clients required to provide service.  Personal data can be sourced directly from data subjects, via telephone and email correspondence and through waterlootankers.co.uk when submitted through the contact form.  Personal data is not sourced externally however Waterloo Tankers may receive personal data from third-party companies if the data subject has requested this transfer of data.  Equally, Waterloo Tankers are able to transfer personal data to a third-party company if consented by the data subject.  Waterloo Tankers will not otherwise share personal data with third party companies.

Categories of personal data collected by Waterloo Tankers include contact name, address, telephone number and email address.  Additional information may be required to complete services however Waterloo Tankers do not obtain personal sensitive data.

Data Processing

Waterloo Tankers act as a data controller by processing personal data.  Processing must be with legitimate interest and compatible with the reason the data was originally collected.

Waterloo Tankers may be required to contact data subjects in support of providing services and to arrange future services.  Waterloo Tankers will not contact data subjects with marketing information.

Waterloo Tankers may be required to process personal data for investigating, detecting and reporting crime; to demonstrate compliance and to actively comply with industry standards and any laws and acts that may apply.

Data Protection and Retention

Waterloo Tankers have security measures in place to protect personal data stored electronically and to strictly limit access to select persons of authority.  There is also a Firewall (security software) in place to protect internal information from the internet.  Equally, hardcopy documentation containing personal data is securely concealed and stored with measures in place to strictly limit access to select persons of authority.

Waterloo Tankers practise a five-year retention period.  Personal data retained by Waterloo Tankers may be reviewed to determine whether it is still needed and may be destroyed prior to the deadline of the retention period.  Please be aware that companies can keep personal data for longer if kept for public interest archiving or statistical purposes.

Social Media

Waterloo Tankers do not store personal information obtained from social media interactions outside of social media platforms unless service requests or enquiries are received; the information is then covered as outlined above.

Google Analytics

When someone visits waterlootankers.co.uk a third-party service called Google Analytics is used to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns.  This is done to discover factors such as the number of visitors to various parts of the site.  This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone; Waterloo Tankers does not make, and does not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

Cookies

Waterloo Tankers may obtain data from cookies through waterlootankers.co.uk.  These are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit; they are widely used in order to make websites work or work more efficiently.  Cookies also enable us to deliver more personalised content.  Most web browsers allow some control of most cookies through the browser settings.  Please note that in a few cases some of our website features may not function if you remove cookies from your browser.

Waterlootankers.co.uk may contain links to external websites.  Please be aware that Waterloo Tankers is not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites and encourage you to read the privacy statements of every website that collects personal data.

Your Rights
